Belonging and Inclusion

ARE YOU AN OPEN AND AFFIRMING CHURCH?
Yes. St. John’s is an Open & Affirming church. If you’ve ever felt excluded, judged, or pushed away by religion, please know this: you are welcome here. We believe the love of God is for everyone, and we are committed to being a church where people can worship, grow, and heal in the presence of Jesus.
DO I NEED TO BELIEVE A CERTAIN WAY TO ATTEND?
No. We welcome seekers, doubters, and lifelong believers alike. Our worship and community life are centered on Jesus Christ, and you’re invited to participate at whatever level you feel comfortable, while you explore faith in a safe and supportive environment.
wHAT IF I'VE BEEN HURT BY CHURCH?
We’re truly sorry. Being hurt in a place that was meant to be safe can leave deep wounds. At St. John’s, our desire is to follow Jesus with compassion, humility, and grace. You’re welcome to come without pressure, ask honest questions, and take the next step only when you’re ready.
OPEN AND AFFIRMING

Worship and Spiritual Life

DO YOU CELEBRATE COMMUNION?
Yes. We celebrate Communion regularly—usually on the first Sunday of each month. We serve bread and grape juice, and all are welcome to participate. Communion is not “our” table—it is Christ’s table—and we do not believe it is our place to turn anyone away. If you choose to receive, you’re welcome. And if you prefer to simply remain seated and observe, that’s perfectly okay too.
DO I HAVE TO PARTICIPATE IN EVERYTHING?
Not at all. You’re welcome to participate as much or as little as you feel comfortable. Some people sing, pray, and join in right away, while others prefer to quietly observe for a while—and both are completely okay. Our hope is that you’ll feel free to engage at your own pace, without pressure. If and when you’re ready, you’ll find plenty of ways to participate and connect.
DO YOU BAPTIZE INFANTS AND ADULTS?
Yes. We baptize infants, children, and adults, and we can offer baptism by sprinkling or immersion. We view baptism as a beautiful step of faith—rooted in God’s grace and love. If you’ve never been baptized and would like to learn more, we’d be honored to talk with you. There’s no pressure—only invitation.

Other Frequently Asked Questions

DO YOU OFFER CHILDCARE?
At this time, we do not offer formal childcare. As a smaller church, our Sunday mornings are simple and family-friendly, and children are always welcome in worship. Kids are free to participate, ask questions, and be themselves. Parents are also welcome to step out at any time if they need to care for their child—there is no pressure or embarrassment here.

How big is St. John’s?

We are a smaller church in a season of growth—becoming the community God is calling us to be. This is a place where faith is taking root, lives are being shaped, and people are learning to follow Jesus in real life.
For many people, that’s actually part of the gift. You won’t be lost in a crowd or expected to perform. Worship is more personal, relationships grow naturally, and there’s space to breathe, listen, and belong at your own pace.
If you’re coming from a season of church hurt, burnout, or simply feeling unseen, many have found this kind of setting to be a gentle and healing place to begin again.
HOW CAN I WATCH ONLINE?
You can watch our worship services live on our YouTube channel and Facebook page. If you miss a service, you can also watch past services and videos anytime on our Media page. We’d love to have you join us live when you can, and we’re grateful to stay connected with you throughout the week as well.
HOW CAN I SPEAK WITH A PASTOR?
Our pastor is accessible and always welcomes the opportunity to connect. Whether you’re looking for prayer, support, guidance, or simply a conversation, you are welcome to reach out. You can contact us through our Contact Us page, and we’ll respond as soon as we’re able.
