The Teaching Archive at St. John’s United Church gathers Bible teaching series designed to explore Scripture thoughtfully, faithfully, and in conversation with real life. These lessons are intended for anyone seeking deeper understanding of Christian faith, biblical interpretation, and the teachings of Jesus.

A Conversation at the Well

In John 4, Jesus sits beside a well and enters a thoughtful conversation with a Samaritan woman about faith, worship, and truth. Rather than dismissing her questions, Jesus engages them with patience and wisdom, guiding the conversation toward the deeper reality of the living water that God provides.
That moment reminds us that faith often grows through conversation, curiosity, and careful engagement with Scripture.

    Conversations about faith and sexuality are often shaped by strong opinions, personal experiences, and passages of Scripture that are frequently quoted but rarely studied in depth. For many people—both inside and outside the church—this has created confusion about what the Bible actually says.

Rather than rushing to conclusions, each lesson carefully examines the historical context, language, and broader message of Scripture in order to understand how these texts have been interpreted by Christians.
