Who is the Holy Spirit and why do we need Him?

The Book of Acts is more than the history of the early Church — it is the story of ordinary people empowered by the ongoing presence of the Holy Spirit. In this twelve-week journey through Acts, we will explore how the Spirit forms the Church, gives courage, transforms lives, breaks barriers, sustains believers through hardship, and continues the mission of Jesus in the world today.

Follow the journey as we explore what it means to live the spirit filled life.

EMPOWERED to finish well

Acts 28:30-31, Acts "29"

The Book of Acts ends without a true ending, because the mission of Jesus was never meant to stop on a page — it continues through His Church, in every generation, including ours. As we finish this journey through Acts and look ahead to Hebrews, we're challenged to carry the gospel forward with the same courage, faith, and dependence on the Holy Spirit that marked the first believers.

EMPOWERED to keep believing

Hebrews 11

Acts showed us the church in motion; Hebrews now asks what kept every one of those faithful people moving even when the promise stayed out of view. The great "hall of faith" is a list of ordinary people who trusted God's word and, in almost every case, never lived to see it fully realized. As we step beyond Acts, we discover that the same Spirit-empowered faith that carried Paul through Corinth, Athens, and a shipwreck is the same faith every believer — and every generation of the church — is called to keep.

October 11th

EMPOWERED to run with endurance

Hebrews 12:1-2

Because we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, we are never running this race alone or starting from nothing. Hebrews calls us to strip off whatever weighs us down, keep our eyes fixed on Jesus rather than on the outcome, and run our own leg of the race with endurance and active persistence. As Paul's story gives way to our own, we are invited to trust the same Author and Perfecter of faith to complete what He has begun in us.

eMPOWERED for the rest of the story

Philippians 1:6

Philippians was written from prison — not as Paul's final words, but in a season where he didn't yet know how his own story would end. "To live is Christ, to die is gain," he wrote, pressing on toward the goal without knowing what the next chapter held. As we close the Empowered series, we look back at where God has already led us since Pentecost and Acts 28 — and forward to a chapter none of us has written yet — trusting that the same God who never failed Paul, and has never failed St. John's, is still writing the story.
