Open Bible in soft natural light representing Scripture, reflection, and understanding God’s Word in real life

What We Believe About the Bible

We believe the Bible is the Word of God and the foundation for our faith and how we live. Through Scripture, God reveals who He is, who we are, and the life He calls us to. But that raises real questions—how do we understand the Bible, interpret it faithfully, and apply it in today’s world? These are important questions, and we take them seriously.

Frequently Asked Questions About the Bible

How should I read the Bible?
The Bible is meant to be read as a whole, not just in isolated verses. Each passage fits within a larger story—God’s work of redemption through Jesus Christ. We read Scripture in context, paying attention to history, culture, and the kind of writing we’re reading. Most importantly, we read the Bible with Jesus at the center, because He is the fullest revelation of God. (Luke 24:27)
What does it mean that the Bible is “inspired”?
We believe Scripture is inspired by God, meaning God worked through human authors—each with their own voice, context, and perspective—to communicate His truth. The Bible is not dictated word-for-word, but it is faithfully given so that we can know God and understand His will. (2 Timothy 3:16–17)

Is the Bible trustworthy?

Yes. We believe the Bible is trustworthy in all that God intends to communicate. It is reliable as the foundation for faith, teaching, correction, and guidance for life. Because of that, we approach Scripture with confidence, humility, and a desire to understand it rightly. (Psalm 119:105)
Is the Bible without error?
We believe the Bible is true and trustworthy, but it is not meant to be read like a modern textbook. Scripture includes history, poetry, parables, and letters, and each should be read according to its purpose and genre. When we read the Bible carefully and faithfully, we can trust it to lead us into truth and into a deeper relationship with God.
How does the Holy Spirit help us understand the Bible?
We believe the Holy Spirit helps us understand and apply Scripture. The Spirit opens our eyes to truth, convicts us, and shapes our lives as we read God’s Word. Understanding the Bible is not just an intellectual exercise—it is a spiritual one, where God is actively at work in us. (John 16:13)

What role does the Bible play in daily life?

The Bible is not just something we study—it is something that shapes how we live. Through Scripture, God forms our character, guides our decisions, and teaches us how to follow Jesus in real life. As we engage with God’s Word regularly, our faith grows deeper and more grounded. (James 1:22)
The Bible is not just a book to be understood—it is how we come to know God more fully and learn to follow Jesus faithfully. As we read, study, and live out Scripture, we are continually being formed into the people God calls us to be.
